All About the CompTIA A+ Exam That You Need to Know

Syllabus Covered in the Core 1 Exam

The Core 220-1101 exam includes five disciplines as the syllabus for IT pros to perform job roles tasked with endpoint and end-user-related skills productively:

  2. Networking: Be able to initialize connecting endpoints, configure advanced networks, establish office environments, understand common concepts of IP addressing, establish network configurations, and utilize networking tools. 
  3. Hardware: Basic understanding of various technology equipment to troubleshoot on-site and remotely. 
  4. Virtualization and Cloud Computing: Understand various business cloud environments, virtual and remote desktops, and client-side virtualization. 
  5. Hardware and Network Troubleshooting: Understand how to implement troubleshooting methodology by finding solutions to hardware and networking problems, plus software troubleshooting in a hybrid environment.

The Core 220-1102 exam covers four areas on which IT professionals will be tested to demonstrate their knowledge and mastery.

  1. Operating Systems: The operating system of today's technology is diverse across multiple platforms, and the CompTIA A+ fulfills the need to navigate and troubleshoot between the most used systems. 
  2. Security: The cyberspace environment is always vulnerable. The Core 2 exam tests check the IT pros' skills on their malware removal skills, familiarity with social engineering vulnerability, and common security understanding across various systems.
  3. Software: The candidates' skills are checked on installing and troubleshooting applications and operating system software.
  4. Operations: The IT pros that prepare and attend this exam are often part of the tier 1 level support for businesses and enterprises.

While preparing for the CompTIA A+ certification exams, there are some important things to anticipate. The common question is whether the candidates must attend two exams in the same series. Suppose you have already passed or plan to take one exam from the A+ 1000 series (220-1001 and 220-1002). Clear the second exam before the previous series retires on October 20, 2022, to receive the A+ certification.
